Remains of a Spanish Civil War explosion (ENG)

The village of Llers almost disappeared at the end of the Spanish Civil War. The Republican soldiers used the parochial church of Sant Julià as a warehouse.

Before leaving the town of Llers, the Republicans explode the church with all the explosives inside of it, so the enemy couldn’t use them.
After the explosion there were no signs of the church neither the houses around it, apart from piles of stones.

The dictator would preserve the remains of the village using it as an anti-Communist propaganda during his regime.

Today it is still possible to find some remains, unfortunately a new urbanisation is going to be built over it. This will erasure part of the recent history of the country that should be preserved.
