The remains of the castle of Navata are about 2 km south from the village. First references are from the 11th C. when count Bernat from Besalú, established the barony of Navata. In the 15th C. its walls were adapted to the new firearms, making them thicker also opening loopholes and adding new watchtowers. The chapel is the only remain from the primitive castle, 11th C. The other visible remains are from the 13th and 14th C. including the adaptations on the 15th C. mentioned previously. It was a castle with a squared plant of remarkable dimensions, with a central patio, nowadays occupied by a forest, and buildings around of it. There is also visible part of the moats at the outside of the tower.
